Sandy Detweiler
Owner/Prekindergarten Teacher
I am the owner of Explore and Learn Childcare and Learning Center. I also teach the Pre-K classroom. Ever since the age of 12 years old I have enjoyed working with children. I started babysitting for neighbors, helping with younger classes during Sunday School and volunteering in the nursery. I attended Bloomsburg University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I taught for several years before I started a family of my own. I am currently raising three teenage boys with my husband and loving every minute of it. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to provide a safe, enriching environment for your child during their early developmental years.
Diane Gerstenfeld
Director/Infant Teacher
Hi! My name is Diane, and I am the Director here at Explore and Learn Childcare and Learning Center. I have 17 years' experience directing and managing programs in the early childhood field. I started my career after graduating from Millersville University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood, in my hometown of West Chester. There, I grew from a 3-year-old head teacher to a director of a center, and then to the executive director of 2 sites within 5 years. I moved out to the area about 11 years ago to continue my love of teaching children and have been the director at this site for the last 11 years.
I have a five-year-old daughter who currently attends Kindergarten in the district and attends our center for our before and after care! She grew through our center from an infant and I know she had the best educational foundation and start to her love of learning from Explore and Learn! During my free time, I love relaxing with my family and friends around the pool or listening to my favorite 92.5 XTU country station. I am excited to begin this school year and watch how the children will grow.
Ms. Casey
Assistant Pre-K Teacher
My name is Ms. Casey and I have been with Explore and Learn since June 2021. I live in Tylersport with my fiancé and our two energetic boys. I'm currently working towards getting my CDA in preschool. In my free time when I'm not with my family then my hobbies include personalizing my planner, cooking without a recipe, and reading. I love looking for great deals and making those purchases at Target. I'm excited to share my passion of reading and learning with the PreK class this year!
Ms. Kelch
Kindergarten Teacher
My name is Meg Kelch and I have been involved in Early Childhood Education for over 18 years. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education and my Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Michigan-Dearborne. I have had the privilege of working in a variety of classrooms, ranging from toddlers to school aged children and with a variety of needs. Every child has brought a special gift to my life! I live in Perkasie with my husband, children, and three cats. My hobbies include gardening and taking care of our 100+ year old house. I look forward to meeting your children and sharing my love of learning and discovery with them!

My name is Katie and I am the two year old teacher at Explore and Learn. I graduated from Lock Haven University in 2003 with my degree in Elementary Education. I have almost 20 years of experience working with children. I have worked with all ages and was even the director of a center: I love watching children grown and develop! My husband and I have two kids, Owen and Abby, who keep us busy! Owen is always creating and building while Abby is always doing art and singing! In my free time I like to spend time with my family, craft and shop at Target!
Ms. Jennifer
Preschool Teacher
My name is Ms. Jennifer, and I am excited to serve as the head teacher in the Preschool group here at Explore and Learn Childcare and Learning Center! I have always enjoyed teaching children and have spent over 26 years in
childcare and education. I have worked with children of all ages, and I greatly enjoy drawing on my prior experiences and applying them to my current opportunity.
I am a mother of three wonderful children, who continue to help shape me into the teacher I am today. Using the knowledge from earning my CDA credential, I strive to create an environment that is nurturing, educational, and fun. In my free time, I love to spend quality time with my family. I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies, yoga, and quiet walks in the park. When inspiration strikes, I also enjoy writing poetry and drawing.
Ms. Janine

Hi! My name is Miss Janine, aka “Neen”. I have been here at Explore and Learn for almost 5 years, and have been in the childcare field for almost 20 years. I have worked with all age groups, and have recently completed the CDA course to expand on my many badges. When I’m not here with the kids, you may find me at a car show or out in my garden. If you can’t find me during football season, chances are I am glued to my couch. I absolutely love working with children and listening to their laughter. I am excited about another school year and look forward to making some more wonderful memories!!!
Mr. Mike
Summer Camp Teacher
Hi! I am Mr. Mike and I have been working seasonally at Explore and Learn since 2018. I graduated from Bloomsburg University in December 2022 and have been substituting in local school districts in the area. I enjoy working with the kids each summer and watching them grow. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball and volleyball.

Hi all! My name is McKayla and I am so excited to begin my first year teaching your children here at Explore and Learn! I recently just moved to Perkasie with my husband and 2 boys ages 9 and 4.
A fun fact about me is that I went to culinary school and love to cook. I am from Georgia but I’ve lived in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Colorado!
I’m currently attending school to obtain my CDA credential in Infants and Toddlers.
When I’m not at Explore and Learn, I’m either at home relaxing with my family or we are out doing family things such as zoos, museums or just exploring Pennsylvania.

Hi! My name is Ms. Torie. I am with the one year olds in the toddler room here at Explore and Learn. I am currently working on getting my CDA to expand my learning and further my career in early childhood education. I have had many different jobs in the past few years, but childcare is the one job that truly has my heart! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my dogs, family, and friends. I also enjoy relaxing and watching movies with a candle burning!
